A graduate of the University of Minnesota, MacNicol traveled the country as a regional repertory actor before making his big screen debut in “Dragonslayer.” He went on to star in the critically acclaimed film “Sophie’s Choice” opposite Merly Streep and Kevin Kline, as well as memorable roles in “Ghostbusters II,” “Addams Family Values,” “HouseSitter,” “Dracula: Dead and Loving It” and “Bean.”
MacNicol appeared alongside Jaime Foxx in the film “Breakin’ All the Rules” and is adapting Dennis Covington’s acclaimed “Salvation on Sand Mountain” as a screenplay, which he will also direct.
MacNicol returns to FOX after his memorable, Emmy Award-winning role as eccentric attorney “John Cage” on “Ally McBeal.” Other television credits include “The Powers That Be,” “Chicago Hope,” “Boston Legal” and “Numb3rs.”
He lives in Los Angeles.
