Dancers must be either a US citizen, legal permanent resident of the US, possess a current legal Employment Authorization Card enabling him/her to seek employment freely in the US (i.e., without restrictions as to employer) by the date specified in the eligibility rules. Dancers must be no younger than 18 or older than 30 years of age on the first day they register for auditions. Any dancer who is a minor in his/her state of residence must also have a parent or legal guardian sign all required documents. My name is Veronica, and as I’m sure you hear from everyone, dancing is a passion of mine. I’m not as good as many of the contestants I have seen on this show, but any excuse to dance is good enough for me, so I thought I’d try my hand at an audition anyway. However, I don’t know if I’ll have the means to make it to any of the states on the current audition location list. Is there any chance there will be an audition scheduled for New York? If so, I would certainly be there! And if I could make it, what should I expect?

Are you going to audition in Texas for the upcoming season? Also did you audition in Dallas for last season because my friend said someone told him had to pay so he drove back to Houston, so are you charging for auditions?

I just graduated college in Florida but I’m back home now in Staten Island NY. I have been dancing all my life and I was wondering if there will be auditions again in NY or some where near here. also if I went to another state to audition is that ok?
I don’t think you should limit the age to 30 years old. Dancing with the Stars doesn’t use the same restrictions.
Is the Salt Lake City audition in July or is that a typo, and it is June 24th?
I wish younger people could adition. It would be nice to know if you had talent at a younger age so you can seek further training. I think it would be nice if the may-July (this year season 6) would have kids 13-17.
I have watched all the seasons of your show. I have always wanted to be apart of the show but i could never find out when and where the auditions were held. If we have to write down 3 songs on the music information form, does that mean we have to choreograph 3 different dances? Also, how long does it have to be?

I was bumbed to see there was an age limit. I am 31 and still am a graceful dancer who has the potential to make the top 20. I think there should be a higher age limit, say 35?

If you are already having Season 6 tryouts in 09. when will you have Season 7’s auditions? I will be 30yrs old in January of 2010 an so next year will be my last year to try out. I am not sure if I am prepared enough for a June tryout.

I have a classmate in my school. Her name is Mikayla Farley. She takes dance class every Thursday night. She dances to street funk. This is her third year in dance class. This year, she is dancing to “Shake ya Tailfeather” by Nelly, P. Diddy and Murphy Lee. Her audition is on July 24 at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. “Shake ya Tailfeather” will be used in her audition. Before her audition, we get out of school on June 26, and prior to that, her recital is on May 31. After her audition, she will go onto the Vegas Rounds, and subsequently onto the final rounds, and I hope she wins.

any word on the possibility of there being a NYC audition date added? because i’m missing tomorrow’s in boston because my ride couldn’t make it last minute [and with it being 3am, nobody's up to ask for a ride...especially considering i'd have to leave at 5]. The usually have one every season there, but I figured i’d ask just incase, at least to ease my tension and such. And NYC is just as far from me as Boston, and I know a few people in NYC so it’d be just perfect. If anyone knows of any word of a NYC date before it’s posted let me know!

American idol is so so SYTYCD is so much BETTER we need longer show and season! or more styles spin off shows… on TV I know so many people from 18 to IN THEIR 80’s that love this show and look forwards to watching each show each week.. i love to watch and i think that it is a good for dancers to be able to have a place to so their skills.
Is there a reason for the age restriction listed as 18 to 30? Can older dancers 31, 32 audition?
I think I’m a very good dancer, but I really don’t know how the show will take me. In that said it is only my weight that is keep me from my goals. I feel the weight issue is a big thing, you really don’t find many guys or girls that can perform well just because they have a few extra pounds on them, but that is not me. I think I dance just a graceful and energetic as someone who’s smaller than myself.

This is my favorite show. I live in Chicago, am 53 years old, started dancing at age 28 in college at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I was really too old at that time to become a professional dancer, but I qualified for the company at the university. We were called the Chicago Circle Dancers. At that time, UIC was known as the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle. I danced with them for 2 years. When I was 48 I became disabled and was unable to walk. I spent 6 months in a wheelchair. With physical therapy, I was able to learn how to walk again. Now I spend some time every week training other disabled people in fitness and health. I am not quite as able to dance as well as I used to, but I try to be an inspiration to those people, especially the ones in wheelchairs.
I know that your show uncovers people with different backgrounds and abilities. I am sending this–because I was wondering if you might consider giving me an opportunity to audition. I might function as an inspiration to older viewers. If you plan to come to Chicago, or if you find my background particularly interesting, please let me know. Either way, continue the great job–I am very glad that you have added an extra season this year! Thanks so much!!

I have watched all the episodes of SYTYCD and think they are fantastic.
Its a shame there is an age limit of 30 years and yet I see dancers trying out over 30 and under 18. How is it possible they can get an audition? I realize you do not put them through but I would also love to have that opportunity to audition and be able to show my talent!
I am flying 3,000 miles to go to the AZ auditions on June 26th… What else do I need to do other then fly there with the proper documents?

I have been to the auditions in La for season 3 and in Seattle for season 5, had to miss season 4 for an injury ;( , But I’m all healed now and I love love love love going to the auditions! Even tho travelling all the way from oregon is rough on the pocket book, ah the life of a starving artist :), I can’t wait to get down to salt lake for season 6, maybe I’ll make it through this time, but if not it’s always a blast, and I got shown waiting in line this last time around so that was super cool! See those who can make it in Salt Lake, Yeah!

Without being hateful, is there any way to fire or muzzel the Murphy woman. Nails on a chalkboard can’t begin to describe the annoyance of her voice let alone her screams. I gurantee that people record the show vs watching it live just to skip through her parts. And Cat - please get an American stylist - your dress like someone from the UK.
I totally agree about the age limit. The success of “She’s Got the Look” should show you that we aren’t useless after 30.

Hey there. I have just a few questions to ask just so I’m not missing anything before auditions.
As far as dance requirements goes, exactly how many dances should one have prepared to audition with?
As far a music requirements goes, do the three songs have to be from their original cd itself or can they be burned onto blank cds? Do they all have to be on the same one or separate ones?
As far as eligibility requirements goes, what exactly is an Employment Authorization Card?
And as far as audition clothing goes, would a piece of clothing that had an enblem or name (of designer, clothing company, etc.) be considered wearable or not if said enblem or name could be covered up?

It would be really awesome if you could have a season 6 audition in Chicago or Indianapollis. I have been dancing for years and I remeber when this show first aired it is to this day my favorite show.I would love it though if you could make it after the 22nd of july cause well I wont be 18 untill then and personally I’m pretty sure that would be the most amazing 18th birthday gift in the world. It would be really awesome if you would do that and not just for me but for the other talented dancers in this area thank you.

I have waited so long for you to come to New Orleans. When I heard about it, my heart hit the moon. Then, I read the rules. I’m 32 years old, have been dancing since 4 and this is my absolute love, passion, heart and soul. I was completely destroyed after seeing that the cutoff age is 30. For the first time in my life I am truly heartbroken. I have suffered from panic and anxiety disorder from the age of 16 and what saved me from my pain and fear was dance. I may be a little older by age, but physically, mentally and emotionally I am strong, confident and full of love for the gift God has given me. I know that my capabilities far surpass those that have auditioned in the past. Please do not take this opportunity away from me because of age. Give me the chance to show you that it’s just a number, not the heart!
Are spectators permitted at the auditions?
So, the last vocalist performer tonight on So You Think You Can Dance, dunno her name or who she was but… was she meant to be lip singing or lip syncing? If she was then she did a great job at it. Aren’t artists supposed to be singing for real? If they’re not then why are they choosing artists who can’t sing on stage? She sucked! I got bored and felt she did not bring any entertainment to the table just a lot of booty shaking. Blah!

My name is Tasha, I am currently the reigning “Miss Utah Teen USA” Dancing is my passion in life! I was thrilled to hear about auditions in Salt Lake City next month! I will be there at the audition on the 24th of July, But I am leaving early monday morning July 27th to represent Utah at the “Miss Teen USA Pageant” Will auditions be over by the morning of the 27th? I have been intensely preparing for the “Miss Teen USA Pageant” and I will do everything I can to make Utah proud, and be the first Utah teen to bring home the crown! I can’t imagine anything better than to have the opportunity to audition for “So You Think You Can Dance” the weekend before I leave. I can’t wait to show my diversity, I am trained in all areas of dance. I want to show how an elegant and poised pageant girl can hip hop like a true thug!

In response to Tahsa’s question, In my experience the audition info has stated to be available for the two days following the intitial auditions, in the case that you make it through one of the first rounds. Since the salt lake audition is on a friday sounds like you’ll be ok, hey so I’m headed there to audition too, maybe I’ll see you in line, we will have a long wait ahead of us, but it’s always fun, especially once the cameras come out, then it’t time to dance in the streets! see you in a month and merde!
It would be so awesome, if auditions came back to the northwest, we have a ton of dance up here, since it rains 90% of the time what else would we do? ha ha, Seattle was great and sooooooo close compared to other locations, maybe next time you could visit us in Portland Oregon? Holla!
I try and make sure that I check daily 4 the announced locations for season 6 auditions! I’m ppinh that u all will make a stop in Kansas City, St. Louis or Chicago! The Midwest floods with untapped and undiscovered potential! We all have a like passion to dance but rarely have the opportunity to expose our gifts with the world! Hi!, I am an absolute fan of SYTYCD, I have watched EVERY season and kept thinking, “oh how I wish they had shows like this when I was younger!” HOWEVER, I am a VERY YOUNG 38 and I still dance all the time, I am into Zumba and have years of ballet and modern training, is there ANY way you would allow me to audition? Why can’t the cut off be 40, truly! I am good, there were not shows like this when I was at the right age! PLEASE tell Nigel!!!! Why not do a “so you think you can dance”for people over 30 years old?I’ve been professional for 16 years,and i would love to do the show,but with my age(31) i can’t,and i think it’s not fair…A dancer can dance until 45 years old,so think about it…

I know there is a lot of people within the Minnesota area and the nearby states that would love a shot at this show. You should come by there for season 6 or season 7.
My husband and I are both still performing as dancers even at age 49 and 55 along side with 20-30 year olds. Would you ever consider another type of SYTYCD show featuring older mature dancers?

Salt Lake auditions on the 24th of July… you guys are nuts. This is a state holiday with a parade on par with the Rose parade in LA or the Thanksgiving parade in NYC. This place is going to be nuts on this day. Good luck…it’s going to be a zoo…

I am planning on finding a way to audition in SLC in a week or two, but I have some questions:
a) How long/short can/should our piece be?
b) Should we have more than one prepared? Or are the multiple track listings for music for something else? (I have 3 pieces prep’d anyways…but just wondering)…
c) I am coming from Portland, OR and finances are very, very tough…anyone know of (or feel like) carpooling? etc.?

What’s the deal with a maximum age Limit, why is that? 30?, I’m 35 and yes can dance Circles around a lot of Boys, And Girls in their 20’s still.. Honestly, I think the whole age limit does just that limits the reality of this show, and any when, at the end you try to give the title of ” The Best” when you don’t really give all a try.
Any suggestions on when to arrive at the Salt Lake City auditions? The doors open at 1pm…how early should we get there?

Only a few days left till Salt Lake, I can’t wait!, I am nervous, excited and overjoyed, auditions for this show are one of the funnest I’ve ever been too, the energy is great, the dancers are amazing, there is so much talent out there and it seems all that talent globs into one place for one awesome day of dance. I’m not sure if I’ll get any reply from this, but as a last resort I’m commenting here since I can’t find the information I’m looking for anywhere on fox.com/dance or the internet, for that matter.
1- Where can we find the Preliminary Questionnaire? Or is it something given to us at the audition? (I don’t want to arrive unprepared and be turned away.)
2- Since the doors open at 1pm and SLC/parking will be a complete zoo before then (due to the 24th parade), what’s the recommended time to arrive at the Rose Wagner? I have a feeling getting parking after 12pm will still be crazy.
3- Are we to prepare more than one solo? Or have multiple songs prepared? I’m uncertain why there are multiple tracks listed on the music sheet if we’re not supposed to have mixed music, unless there are more solos required.
I’ve seen these questions asked already, but no answer on this site (or anywhere else that I can find). Please reply to my email, if needed for private reasons, with answers to my questions. Thank you!

i am a 20 yr old male. have been dancing all my life, since utero, as i have been reminded many a time. jewish mothers are the best. i have recently moved out and have very rare chances to internet access. as you must know, dancers dont make much. i have no internet where i live. and no tv. ive only recently considered getting one, so i could find out when auditions are. my mother helps me pay for my phone. where i can recieve email. i just now checked the site. im too late to audition. if there is any chance you could posibly suggest a web format for mobile phones, id have more of a chance to follow the one thing that keeps me breathing. dancing for me is not a passion, its a survival tool. im in recovery, and will have a year of sobriety on the 8th of august. if there is any way you can help me catch that fresh breath of life, id greatly appreciate it. thank you for taking the time to read this.

Since Huntsville, AL is an upcoming and rising city, why don’t you think about having an audition here. Maybe you will have some good laughs here or maybe you will find some great talent like myself. It is hard for me to get to other states, but I would love to audition and show the world something special. If Huntsville residents enjoy what I do, why not the world. Think about it. You have never been to this area and it is the center of Atlanta, Nashville, Kentucky, Mississippi and Florida, so there would be a great turnout. HuntsVegas is where its at Season 7.
