I can’t believe the elimination last night, I loved Ashley. She proved herself in last weeks crash test dummy dance. i think she did great in hip hop and shes shown that she can handle the different genres. One girl I would like to see go is Asuka, she sucks.
I’m so sorry to see Max go. I think it was the wrong choice. Kupono is good, but he fell short on his individual dance and I feel they kept him because of his looks and fan appeal, not on his ability. Max , you are awesome and it’s sad to see you go.
I think getting rid of Max was a bad decision. In my opinion, his solo was the best by far. Kupono’s solo was bland, and the judges even said that it lacked substance.
They must have seen something in Kupono that made them keep him, but I sure don’t see it.
Max, you got robbed. good luck
Well, there is no point in continuing to watch the show now that the best dancer has been eliminated. Max was by far the best the show has seen in a while but the ongoing bias against the classic styles continues. Good luck Max, you will go far!
I’m sad to see ashley go
i think there were others that should have been in the bottom besides the three that were in both the girls and boys…I diff. think Asuka and Vitolio dance was VERY BORING!!! I don’t see how that dance related to his life? And they aren’t that good of dancers not like the ppl. that were stuck in the bottom three.
Sad day
Once again, elimination by choreography and/or costumes. Ashley because of the choreography and Max because of that rediculous costume. I feel they were both slighted by the shows substandard decisions
The judges were in error in eliminating Max. He has great technique and has more potential than the other dancer .
He needs to be brought back.
I think it is bs that max got eliminated. His solo was the best one. And the girl who clearly does not want to try very hard should have been the one to go home.
I think they made the wrong decision getting rid of Max too…Ashley, I was fine with, because the other two in the bottom are much better dancers…Max should have lasted AT LEAST two more elimination rounds…that was disappointing to watch.
They definately mad a bad decision last night. I think it was Ashley’s time to go but definately not Max’s he was one of the best guys by far. Maybe the see something in Kupono…I don’t know. He’s alright but I definately thought Max was a lot better.
Thought occurred….what if the judges just wanted to break up the couples with that elimination last night…? Just a thought
MAX – you will be missed! Keep following your dream~ you are great!
I was so SAD and surprised to see Max elimated over Kupono! Max is a much better dancer!! Good luck Max, I will miss you!! Kupono will probably be the next one to go.
It is my opinion, that is a a shame that Max was let go instead of Kupono. Max is a terrific dancer and his and Kayla’s routine I watched over and over again! Kupono’s solo and his skills were lax this week and Max showed more than ample technique and effort. Once again, I believe a very huge mistake was made.
Vote the judges off! Max was by far the best. He stepped up to every style and every challenge they threw at him. Everyone in my family who watched last night was dumbfounded at his elimination. BRING MAX BACK.
They made the right choice Max was to contrived and he danced like a girlie man. Kupono can take on a character like he did in the crash test dummies and that is awesome.
I cannot believe it that Max was eliminated last night. Total shock !!!!

Kupono should have been the one going home. He sunk Ashley into the bottom three because didn’t do his part well in their hip hop routine. As much as I really like Caitlin, I think Ashley is a much stronger dancer.
Usually I agree with the judges. NOT THIS TIME!! Why in heavens name would they keep Kupono over Max??? Somehow Max should be brought back! I am so disappointed in the judges!

Max’s solo was beautiful, no the same old leaping & leaping that is in the others solos.
Sorry to see you go Max. I knew it was going to be you when I saw it was between you and Kapono. Go and be a professional dancer for Dancing with the Stars!!!!!!!!!! I think Phillip should have been the one to go home. He’s an amazing dancer in his own style, but he SUCKS at everything else. I hated that tango it was awful. I hate his facial expressions. As for the girls I too believe Asuko (whatever her name is) should have gone home. By the way I hated the Mia Michaels routine. I love her dances, but that one was ridiculously awful.
i think Max was robbed also…Kupono or whatever was excellent excellent in the Crash Test dummy dance….LAST WEEK…Max’s solo was great, and his routine with Kayla I thought was excellent also…the judges felt his “dance style” would restrict him, but they are always carping on letting the dancers grow…so what up with that. Anyway, they had to make a decision, unfortunately i think it was probably the wrong one.
Oh and as for the girls, I liked them all really, those bottom three. That was a really tough call, but i had to agree that Ashley’s solo was possibly the weakest. Really hard call there, of those bottom three dancers.
I am absolutely outraged at Max being eliminated. He was my favorite and IMHO as good as Dmitri and Pasha of past seasons, both of whom made the top 10.

Nobody is going to vote Kopono this week. What the heck were the judges thinking?
I was shocked they eliminated Max over Kupono, the first mistake I’ve seen by the judges but a huge one! I generally agreed with their past decisions. Max was brilliant on his own! He and Kayla were genius together! I thought they were the best couple on the show and I’m bummed we won’t see them dance together again.
The judges made a really big mistake by letting Max go. I was sure that Max and Kayla had their spot in the top ten. Both their routines were amazing and Max gave it his all. He would have come out on top if they would have gave him another chance. As for Kupono, he is going to sink Kayla. She is a very good dancer but unfortunately I don’t think that the two will match. I look at the top 16 now and I can only say for sure which six could be in the top ten Jason, Evan, Ade, Melissa, Randi, Kayla, the remaining 10 all deserve to go home. And Philip, he sux, he doesnt care, his tango was really bad. Jeanine is good but she will depend on his popularity to shine up. America, once again, you cannot beat Canada! So don’t even try to steal our television spot by putting a show at the same time as Canada!
BRING MAX BACK.BRING MAX BACK.BRING MAX BACK.BRING MAX BACK.BRING MAX BACK.BRING MAX BACK.BRING MAX BACK.BRING MAX BACK.BRING MAX BACK.BRING MAX BACK.BRING MAX BACK.
BRING MAX BACK.
I’m absolutley shocked at last night’s decision…while normally in full agreement with the judges I am completely disgusted with what happened last night! Ashley and Max??? Two of the strongest dancers in the competition. Max’s solo was arguably the strongest of the three guys, as well as Ashley’s amongst the girls, while Kapono & Kayla’s solo’s were quite weak in comparison, a point even articulated by Nigel, I do believe. Will we find out next week that they’re all aliens and the studio is actually on Mars???
I was disappointed that Asuko wasn’t in the bottom three. They were only kept out of it because of Vitolio (sp?). She’s very fake and plastic. I was SHOCKED that Kayla and Max were in the bottom… you could tell that all the other dancers were shocked as well. Out of all the dances, theirs was one of my favorites. Letting go of Max was definitely wrong. And I agree that Mia’s dance was terrible. I was embarrassed FOR her.
I think Max was not a good choice for elimination, but Kayla & Max did not need to be in the bottom three, in my opinion. There are so many talented people this season, I wish everyone could stay the entire time, instead of eliminating two per week. But, as I said before, every week, elimination is necessary, no matter who you’ve got competing.
I really hope that Ashley & Max will come back for Season 6, soon appear on another show, or make a guest appearance in the middle of the season. Please bring Ashley & Max back, in some way! I wish there would be a rule saying that if you got eliminated any time before the finals, you could re-audition next season. Like before, I hope that this will be made up for in some way.
I’ll see you next week! Until then, take care!
I was really surprised to see Kayla in the bottom three. She is the best dancer on the show as far as I’m concerned. Not only that, but the dance she and Max did Wed night was fantastic! I agree with some of the above comments that there are other girls deserving to go over Ashley, and they made a definite error in sending Max home. America needs to step it up in voting for the best dancers, and avoid making this mistake again.
Eliminating Max was so wrong! He has charisma and a thoughtful attitude and is a great dancer. Who can you possibly pair Kayla with now. Kupono? That is a total mismatch.
MISTAKE, BIG MISTAKE, MAX SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED.
After the first week’s excellent show (A+ I watched it many times over again, no bad pieces and some like bollywood and the samba truly mesmerizing), this week was extremely disappointing in many ways (D). The only truly memorable number was Carla and Jonathan’s contemporary piece. The waltz was touching, mainly b/c/o Vitolio’s story but not very difficult (easier than most dances on DWTS). Sonia’s work and the disco were difficult but forgettable. The jive looked like hokey-pokey and the tango like a skit on Saturday Night Live. (Oddly, I know what Lil C meant by the knees — Phillip was supposed to dance dramatically deep into the knees, not putter around like a puppet.) Ultimately, the bottom three couples were victims of their choreographers. And then the judges — are they getting second-hand smoke from Lil C or something?
The whole charade culminated in the judges’ inexplicable dismissal of Max (the one high-quality ballroom dancer on the show — you know they need him) instead of Kupono with the excuse that Kupono is “unique.” Anything Kupono can do, four other guys on the show can do better. What exactly is “unique” about him? I can’t help but think this is a veiled political move — poor Max and Kayla (she was devastated by Max’s dismissal as well plus the judges are hurting her chances by treating her as “teacher’s pet”). Thinking back to this week’s show makes me gag.
If there is anything to be learned from this, perhaps dancers should not be dismissed after their first appearance in the bottom. They could have a “strike” against them and then would be at the judges’ mercy if they are in the bottom twice. No one would mind an extra couple around for a week or two initially as long as they are trimmed back by the top ten. It would be more fun!
I thought that Max was by far the better dancer then Kupono. Max’s solo was thought out and put alot of effort in to it. Kupono’s was bland and the judges also said it too. Just because Max is a ballet student doesn’t mean that he is only limited to that style. Look at Melissa she’s in ballet and she can dance anything. The judges should have kept Max and got rid of Kupono. Personally I don’t think Kupono’s style is all that great.
I was shocked that they sent Max home. I was so impressed that Max actually timed his solo to end with the end of his music choice–everyone else just stops abruptly when they run out of time, but Max had a beginning, middle, and end to his solo. Such a shame, especially since the Nigel said himself that Kupono’s solo lacked substance. At least it wasn’t unanimous–I’m glad someone wanted to keep him!
Shaka Kupono. Local boys rule!
Aloha!
Eliminating Max was definitely a mistake!!!
WOW I was shocked and kind of disappointed in the show. Although, i like Kapono, his solo did not meet the quality of the other two and I think its a shame that Max was sent home. I also think it was a slap in the face(towards Max) for Nigel to say that Kupono’s solos have lacked substance yet they like him because he is different. I really hope I see more of Max somewhere but honestly to eliminate Ashley because of her substance lacking solo and keep Kupono is just infuriating.
Last night’s results show was absurd on so many levels: (1) Philip Chbeeb may be a master popper/locker, but he’s weak in all the other styles and should have been in the Bottom Three last night, fan base notwithstanding. (2) Max and Kayla should not have been in the Bottom Three. They are both superb dancers. (3) Max is a far better dancer than Kupono, who wasn’t dumped because…uh, why? I thought SYTYCD was a DANCE show, not a “he sure gets into the character” show. Speaking of which, Max is NOT limited by being a ballroom dancer. What a lame excuse! Kupono is this year’s Mark: all goofy charm, no substance. Can’t get rid of him soon enough. Unfortunately, he’ll probably be around longer than other, more deserving dancers.
I was absolutely dissapointed to see Max go. Was this decision based on ratings only? The guy is an excellent dancer! Kupono is no competition for Max. This was definitely a bad call!
Now Kayla is left with Kupono!!! What?? He is going to bring her down!!! Judges.. you made the biggest mistake ever for the sake of ratings!! Is this what this show is all about? I thought it was about real good talent and rewarding that!
Bring MAX back!! Do the right thing!
BRING MAX BACK!!!! BRING MAX BACK!!!
Max I am sorry you had to be treated so unfairly in this competition! You definitely are very talented and America saw that!! I can’t believe a mediocre dancer was kept in your place!!!
You Go Max!!! The sky’s the limit!!!
“Max, you work hard!” but bye! WHAT? His solo + his performance last night >>>>>>> Pono’s solo + performance. They are really doing all they can to make sure Kayla doesn’t land in the bottom three again. This will probably blow on their faces.
And I’m sorry, but Caitlin is bringing Jason down every routine! Ashley is much much stronger dancing other styles. I mean, Caitlin had to dance for her life in Vegas because she couldn’t handle Mia’s routine – which is her style – contemporary, for goodness sakes!
And her hip hop was atrocious!
Very disappointing episode last night. Max has delivered two excellent performances and a very strong solo, why was he eliminated? Kupono had one good dance last week, one mediocre this week, and a very lousy solo, and he is still around. What is this about? Also, why was Max penalized for doing a solo in his style? Does not everybody do that. I enjoyed his solo last night very much – it has strong technique and exciting performance. Max is stronger than at least another 3-4 boys on the show, it is so unfair that he was cut last night. We want him back!
Hi! I’m very sad & disappointed to see Max go. By far, he’s one of the best ballroom dancers (next to Pasha, of course) to enter this competition. I’m not so sure what Kupono’s got to offer that the judges think he can. One thing’s definite though. Max got a lot to show & offer!! I won’t be surprised if Nigel will mention about Max’s elimination next episode coz a lot of people are really disappointed with the decision.
I am in total agreement with those who think Max should have stayed and Kapono been eliminated. I was shocked! There was no comparison in their solos…Max demonstrated that he is clearly the better, more polished dancer. Sometimes it’s about ratings, not talent, eh?
dismissing a talented dancer from a high level competition changes the dynamic between all the remaining dancers and maybe that’s what the judges wanted but not what i as a viewer or max wanted. poor kayla forced to dance with kupono! they saw his solo and still kept him!
Too bad about Max. Big mistake
Max?? Dubious move
KupoNO and the bomb girl will be a terrible pair.
OK – judges definitely wanted to break up the 2 best dancers – Kayla and Max – and then put the best (Kayla) with by far the worst(Kupono) to make the show more even. I can say that Max didn’t do some leaps in his solo but at least he didn’t just jerk his neck and arms around like a 1988 teenage cool kid Max Headroom wannabe. Extremely disappointed in the judges and I am sure it is Nigel’s doing to try to stir up controversy and mix the couples. Max – you got robbed!!!!!!
BRING MAX BACK!, BRING MAX BACK!, BRING MAX BACK!
What a disappointing elimination last night! Max is by far a better and more talented dancer than Kupono. What’s the matter with you judges — one of you should be eliminated! So, do right and BRING MAX BACK!
I am very disappointed in the show. There is absolutely no logical explanation for getting rid of Max. Max was better than Kupono at every single level. He was the best ballroom dancer on the show while Kupono is the tenth best contemporary dancer.
On week one, Max displayed textbook technique and sizzling style for a truly memorable samba. Kupono did well but — seriously– how can ANYONE do a bad job playing a crash dummy? (IS there such a thing as bad crash-dummy technique?) The piece was just imaginative and that’s why people liked it.
On week two Max did well with the material he was given and landed in the bottom three due to unappealing choreography. Kupono danced quite poorly but it was his partner (who danced much better than him) who was kicked out.
Max did quite a good solo while Kupono…wait, did he dance? have a seizure? chase a fly?
If the judges need to “spice things up,” they can have the bottom three swap partners.
If they need to keep Kupono longer as a PR move (due to Nigel’s politically incorrect comments during auditions), they can have him as an EXTRA pair.
If anyone is bringing Kayla down…hello, it’s the judges. The audience hates favoritism. (Did you notice how much good Mia’s Brandon-bashing did for his popularity?)
Max was robbed. No doubt whatsoever. Max has more talent and skill in his left foot than Kupono has in his entire body. While everyone at this stage is a good dancer, Kupono included, Max has speed, balance, and energy that only a couple of other male competitors can match. Terrible, terrible choice.
MAX AND KAYLA’S DANCE WAS MY FAVORITE!!
I couldnt believe they were, not only in the bottom 3, but Max was eliminated. Not a good choice
and Kayla worked sooo hard to be on the show and did AMAZINGGG in her crash test dummy dance but didnt get to make it through this past week.
stupidstupidstupid
Max they cut you because you and Kayla rocked every dance so well that you were making the other dancers look bad. Now poor Kayla has to dance with the guy who should have been cut. They’ll probably give them a super lame dance style this week like “Square Dance” to cinch them into the bottom three.
Kayla DON”T GIVE UP! You gave an incredible performance in your solo and with Max. The viewers can see how talented you are, even if the judges have a warped view of reality. ROCK ON KAYLA, ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!
I, too, am so disappointed that the judges decided to eliminate Max. Nigel’s explanation seemed to be contradictory. Kupono had no substance in his solo, but they like his way with”character”??? I could not really see any character development in his solo or week 2 performance. Then, Nigel praises Max for his discipline and hardwork, but complains about his specialization in salsa. But didn’t he nail his modern dance routine with Kayla? It just makes no sense, and really takes away from the credibility of the show’s judges. I hope Max does not let the judges’ comments discourage him because he deserves better.
please take Max back!
I don’t understand why Max was in the bottom to begin with?? Nigel, Mary and Lil’ C…what were you thinking? Max is limited with ballroom for his solo and yet he performed a routine which was well planned and entertaining. Kapono’s solo not only lacked “substance” it lacked heart and soul. Max showed with each style of dance his versatility, where as Kapono fell short on Hip Hop and dragged his dance partner down with him. Last week the judges told Paris they had to take into conscideration the genres. In essences protecting Asoka (who should have gone home!) in order to retain the ballroom genre. Shouldn’t the same rule have been applied to the guys this week? Kapono, just like Paris, did not perform as well as the other comtempary dancers. He should have been the one sent home and the ballroom genre would have still been in the competion!!!! Very bad judging for the week…sorry!
Max should still be on the show. He earned that right the old fashion way, showing up when it counted. Every passive aggressive insult that the judges sent his way “I assume you were in the number too” “Your problem is keeping up with (your fantastic!) partner” he took like a man, remaining respectful to everyone involved.
Even as they threw him the final blow with the precious “love your hard work, but you’re ballroom so therefore you have to suck (and Osaka was kept last week because…?)” he kept it together, didn’t cry and showed the grace that I’d come to expect from him during his short time on the show. I hope the ratings tank from here on. They probably won’t, but it makes me so angry when integrity goes out the door.
I believe in Karma too, and I hope great things will come your way Max. It was great to see you dance every week. I thought YOU were the best part of that samba! Hope you’ll be back on TV soon! Already miss you.
they eliminated the right dancers!! for the ones complaining about max getting booted must be related to him. so what happens now? does kupono partner up with kayla? that should be interesting- i think they’d make a dynamic couple!
THE JUDGES GOT IT WRONG!!! They should recall MAX – This was the most unprofessional oversight keeping Kupono over Max! And the same old comments over and over again! This show needs a quality ballroom dancer – if this is his specialty – he did it amazing. I feel robbed as I was just waiting to see Max jitterbug!!! THE JUDGES MADE A BIG MISTAKE!!!! I Agree BRING MAX BACK! BRING MAX BACK!
It is IMPOSSIBLE that they voted Max off the show. He was the best male dancer in the ENTIRE GROUP! I can’t believe that they kept Kupono. Phillip can not even touch the grace and effortless movement of MAX.
I may stop watching the show because of this.
OMG! I was shocked that the judges decided to drop Max. WHY???????? He is one of the best and most versatile dancers on the show. I hope they bring him back.
The judges really confuse me with their hypocrisy. Last week at elimination they said that they not only take into consideration the solo’s, but also the remaining dancers of the same style on the show. I believe that they compared Paris to the other contemporary dancers. They already have two fabulous male contemporary dancers left on the show, with Kupono being a distant third. He did a worthless solo that didn’t show skill, or creativity. Instead they got rid of Max, the ONLY ballroom guy on the show. He had an amazing week last week, did a fabulous solo and never deserved to be in the bottom three in the first place. What were they thinking?! Their excuse for getting rid of Ashley was that her solo “lacked substance” (which it did), but then they kept Kupono after giving him the same criticism. They really need to make up their mind on the criteria that they are using to send people home. Now they are pairing their favorite, female front runner up with Kupono next week. Way to screw her over -as if their over the top praise wasn’t hurting her enough. Do they love this girl or hate her??
On another note, I wish the judges would have addressed the elephant in the room on Wed. Shane Sparks choreography stunk!! The common denominator in the two worst dances of the night was Shane. I think that he is talented, but he is clearly not putting the time, effort and creativity into his choreography this year. The judges can’t praise him, and then tell four amazing dancers that they just didn’t execute well. They had nothing amazing to work with, the judges know that and so does America.
I think the elimination last night was so unfair Ashely and max were both wonderful dancers way better than Kupono and Kayla she was hopping around the stage and Kupono was dancing something weird he is one of the worst dancers and Max was really wonderful they should bring him back he was one of the best dancers on the show and Ashely did her thing on the last show they should bring Ashely and Max back!!!!!!!!!!! JUDGES YOU MAD A REAL BIG MISTAKE
Choosing Kupono over Max was the wrong decision. Max was hands down the best ballroom dancer on the show. Last week the executive producer said it was the show’s goal to represent each genre of dance when possible. This was their reasoning for keeping Asuka last week and she might not even be the best female ballroom dancer given the performances of Kayla, and Karla. Plus Kupono has at least 3 or 4 modern male dancers that are better he.
The only logical explanation for keeping Kupono over Max is the show’s PC problem. If they need to keep Kupono several extra weeks to help ameliorate their legal problems, so be it BUT they should do so in a way that does not harm the rest of the competition. People are already angry about the clearly contrived decision of this week — what do you think will happen in the coming weeks? Several dancers (like Phillip, Evan, and Brandon) have a fan base large enough to keep them out of bottom three until deep into the competition. Even if they give Kupono the best choreography, he is bound to keep landing in the bottom three with some really great dancers. People will realize there is something wrong if he keeps getting rescued over great dancers who get cut.
It would be much more logical and fair to just keep Kupono and his partner as an extra pair for however many weeks they feel they need to do that, expand the bottom by one pair b/c/o the extra pair. Then they can keep passing him through without disrupting the rest of the competition. Nigel says “rules are rules” but they weren’t planning in these special legal circumstances. They would actually follow the rules better and the competition wouldn’t suffer as much if they kept the extra pair.
Max should not have gone home! Max and Kayla were my favorite couple! Kupono should have gone home instead.
Max should have stayed. In the long run….Max is and can be the mascuslin dancer. Kipono is too feminine……
Nigel
Kupono is not good
Why
Iam from Sudan Africa
If need challenges America try to dance Ethiopian African dance
I was disappointed that Ashley left – thought she had something really special. On another note, is anybody else bugged by the weird camera work on the show this year? There are so many cutaways, different angles, moving to different angles that I can’t see the dancers or the dance.
Look at it this way, they cut Ryan to keep whatshisname that was eliminated the first week because Ryan was not as cute. It really is not about the dance genre, Ryan proved he can dance ANY style. Though I love Evan, he was chosed because he could be considered cuter than his brother. That is obviously the case with Max (the MUCH better dancer in any genre) and Kupono. I can remember Max’s Samba perfectly, but can only remember Ashley as the crash test dummy. Nothing Kupono has done has made any kind of impression on me. It’s just a matter of whom the judges think is cuter. NOT the way they dance.
This is an obvious mistake. You do not have to be Max’s fan to be upset by this. Max got high praises from the judges the night before, unlike Kupono. (Since judges claimed to be looking at the big picture that should already have given him leverage over Kupono. ) During the solo, Max had a much better performance, which judges admitted. So how is that 1+1 > 0+0 ? I don’t understand this math; very illogical. They took a very strong performer, with great potential and eliminated him over a mediocre dancer with few questionalble eccentricities (which I presume is the only thing really going for him). Being a Ballroom dancer is not automatic handicap. Judging from the delivery of the speech, I do not think it was Nigel’s decision. They need to at least re-analyze this decision.
The judges can still save face and bring the extra pair back. Week 2 basically had unbalanced choreography choices. Sonia’s work is pretty much as quirky as the average viewer is willing to like. If you have three numbers on the same show that are weirder than Sonia’s work, you’ve basically doomed those three pairs before they even started to dance. (Maybe Max can do ballroom with Ashley.
I think the two dancers who should have been eliminated were Kaitlin and Kupono. I would really have loved to see Jason paired with Ashley, think it would have been an excellent duo!! I don’t think Kayla is very thrilled to be dancing with Kupono??
I was very upset with the results…….
I was first upset with the Bottom 3……Kayla and Max should not have been in the bottom
Then i was upset that Max got sent home….HE HAD 2 AMAZING PERFORMANCES…….Kupono had 1 amazing performance……Max’s solo was SO MUCH BETTER……….
I’m also upset because my fav Kayla has to be pared with Kupono who is not as good as Max…… So now because of Kupono, Kayla will be in the bottom three again……
The same thing happened to Shuana from Season 3……Her partner should not have gone home….then she got a bad partner who brought her back to the bottom 3………and she was eliminated
EVERYONE VOTE FOR KAYLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The judges really made a bad choice by letting Max go over Kupono. Max’s performances have been excellent and his solo was amazing. What probably landed him and Kayla in the bottom three was the choreography and the costumes. The intro to the dance was something about Kayla being a princess and Max trying to take something from her. The costumes were very strange, almost clownish, and the choreography didn’t seem to match the storyline. However, both Max and Kayla did an excellent job with what they were given.
On the other hand, Kupono’s performances in Week Two were both weak. If the producers want to keep this show from becoming a joke, they need to bring Max back. They told Kupono that he didn’t do very well but kept him. They praise Max for his performances and hard work and then cut him. This makes no sense, unless there’s something going on behind the scenes that they won’t admit to. Simply saying that Max’s ballroom style limits what he can do in his solo is a copout. His solo was tremendous.
The judges did both Max and their show a great injustice.
I think it was ridiculous that they let Kupono stay. Clearly he wasn’t the best dancer out of all the guys in elimination. I was very disappointed. It was hard to see which girl to go though. I usually don’t like ballroom dancers, but I was very upset that Max left, what did he do wrong? Nothing, he did a decent solo, did a good dance, he was there for his partner. Why did he leave. Kupono let down his partner Ashley, and I believe that he’s the reason they were in the bottom 3. I loved Ashley, she has a unique style.
I think the judging system is rigged to a certain extent. I wish that they wouldn’t have 2 ballroom dancers always on the judging panel. I know they appreciate contemporary pieces but I wish a contemporary/hiphop coreographer would be on the panel every week. I respect Mia, Mandy, Adam, Lil’ C, Tyce, etc, opinions. Views from all styles of dances are important for the viewer, especially if viewers aren’t dancers.
Are you serious? Max was clearly much better than Kupono. What on earth did the judges see in Kupono? Max didn’t even make any mistakes, whereas Kupono had plenty…
I KKKNNNOOOOOO
MAX SRY U GOT ELIMATED U WERE SOOOOO GOOD AND THE JUDGES MUST OF SAID THE WRONG NAME BCC I THOUGHT U HAD THE BEST SOLO OF THE NIGHT!!!!!!!!! I THOUGHT U AND KAYLA DANCED THE CONMENTORY DANCE REALLY GOOD 2!!! I MEAN THE JUDGES LOVED IT!!!
i am a 45yr mom, this is my sons email, i normally do not go on line but i felt so compelled to say two things: kayla is truly amazing she has taken every dance that has been given 2 her and rocked it. also, jason and janeen danced so awesome 2gether 2nite she has been overlooked. i love phillip but i think he kinda held her back with her style. phillip is an amazing dancer in his own luv him . all the cast is awesome i wished they could all win…..sherry from n.c.
