Finalists Karla Garcia and Vitolio Jeune were eliminated tonight on So You Think You Can Dance

Cat Deeley with Karla & Vitolio
TOP 6 COUPLES COMPETE ON NEXT PERFORMANCE SHOW
WEDNESDAY, JULY 8, ON FOX
R&B Singer Kelly Rowland and House DJ David Guetta to Perform
on Next Results Show Thursday, July 9
Finalists Karla Garcia and Vitolio Jeune were eliminated tonight on the summer hit SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Garcia, 24, is a Jazz/Contemporary dancer from Brooklyn, NY, and Jeune, 26, is a Contemporary dancer from Miami, FL. This week featured special performances by pop sensation Kelly Clarkson and professional dancers Desmond Richardson and Patricia Hachey.
The three couples who received the fewest votes after Wednesday’s performance show were: Karla Garcia and Vitolio Jeune; Kayla Radomski and Kupono Aweau; and Jeanine Mason and Philip Chbeeb. After each of these six dancers performed solo routines, the judges eliminated Garcia and Jeune.
Next week, the competition continues on television’s most original dance show when the remaining six couples (Randi Evans and Evan Kasprzak; Caitlin Kinney and Jason Glover; Janette Manrara and Brandon Bryant; Jeanine Mason and Phillip Chbeeb; Kayla Radomski and Kupono Aweau; Melissa Sandvig and Ade Obayomi) compete once again on a two-hour performance show Wednesday, July 8 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
The following night, Kelly Rowland and David Guetta will perform their new dance anthem, “When Love Takes Over,” and the judges will send two more dancers home on the live results show Thursday, July 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed).

Why are the Judges consistently abusing the “Dance For Your Life” portion of the show!!!! Why don’t they change it to “We’ll just keep our favorites” and let the losers do one final Dance. Vitolio was by far the best soloist of the competition and although he improved, after taking your critiques, still sent him packing !
Then the same with Karla, She didn’t have the weakest solo either and the same result!! Many of us feel not only is this happening more often but also it is not an actual “Dance For Your Life” on your show and may the worst one go home. Thank You in advance for your consideration in this matter. Sincerely J. Lewis (Dance Fan)
I am very upset this week with Vitolio going home. Have you lost your mind judges? His solo alone should have been enough to keep him.
I am struggling with the idea that show seems to have decided to introduce so many forms of dance, then have Nigel blow his own horn over it. Certain dancers seem to be used to display these new to the show forms of dance while others are able to show off they talent closer to their strengths. Bollywood, then Shane Sparks Hip Hop, then Paso Doble, then Alien Love for Jason and Caitlin? Meanwhile Phil is still on the show after that horrible ballroom and 2 shots at contemporary hip hop. He was blasted for the ballroom and the Shane Sparks number, but still on the show.
For me? Nigel seems to not want to blast a guest choreographer for a bad number as he wants to keep them helping out the show, but good lord, Brian Freakin Friedman! Tony Basil made a comment that you have to be careful that the choreographer does not become the star. What about when the choreographer does not step up? Friedman seems to want to be an artist and the star rather than try to have the dancers be the star. I feel that Phil and Jeanine were set up to fail with the broadway number they had with the Tyce Dlorio and his Singing in the Rain number. Tyce, Siinging in the Rain? Who doesn’t fall deep into thought of Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds?!?!!? Tyce? Try harder to give us something even folks that have never wore dance shoes something to enjoy without the fog of those 3 gods in our minds while we are watching these young kids.
Nigel, this show has been very successful and I love to watch but I can tell you more of this crap I may tune out like many others I know have. People I know seem to feel you, Nigel have an agenda of who should win the show before it begins? If we talk about truly well rounded dancers should Tony and Phillip even be on the show? Of course not. But, if the goal is to reach the ABDC crowd, you need these two, don’t you? Be true to So You Think You Can Dance fans please. Dizzy Feet is wonderful, glad the dance community will be able to help itself grow. But I am sure most of the crews on ABDC are street dancers, at least that is what they keep telling the kids, be more street. The Dizzy Street ten going to be street dancers? I doubt it seriously.
Finally Classical Ballet on point? Coincidence that the Naughty Ballerina walked into her dream role of Juliet? I doubt it. C’mon Nigel stop trying to sell us on how diverse your show is and how many firsts you can have each season. I watch the show for the dancing, not your sales pitch. In fact get off the stage and let another dancer critic. I know most of the public would rather listen to Debbie Allen, Mia Michaels, even Lil C rather than you. They would talk about the dancing and not give us the snake oil sales pitch.
Nigel, you better bring it next week!
Sucks, sucks, sucks. I voted for them about 100 times. I loved them. Didn’t work!
Vitolio, Thank you from Canada, in all my seasons of watching this show, you were the first to make me cry when you left…you are an amazing dancer, NEVER give that up. This is only a stepping stone for you. Your drive and passion are such an amazing thing, more ppl need that. It WILL be missed!!!!
The camera cuts are driving me crazy! Please leave the camera in one spot so we can watch the dancers. Please listen to your viewers who have been posting this all season.
What’s up with the choreography too! Poor Jason and Kaitlin. A dance about alien sex! Brian Freidman, please realize these dancers worked hard to get here and they deserve decent choreography. Jason didn’t even get to dance, he just had to lay or sit there and look dazed. I’m all for creative choreography but if you were getting paid for that I’m sure you would have done something better.
Kayla and Kupono you were robbed. You were given a very hard dance and you did a fabulous job. Kayla, don’t give up! There is a reason you are the judges favorite, you’re an incredible dancer. If people are voting for other people based on personality then the show should be called “So You Think You Are Cool”. I really hope people start voting based on dance ability and not anything else.
Camera people, choreographers and voters, please start doing the right thing!
I am personally sick of the butt kissing and over the top praise to the choreographers.
We know they are a vital part of the show, but it’s not called “So You Think You Can Choreograph.” Obviously they can or they would not be part of such an esteemed show. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with telling them that their piece was good, but it seems like when other choreographers are part of the panel (and Nigel is bad about it too), they spend more time commenting on the choreographer’s job than the dancers, while the dancers are just left up there standing awkwardly and wondering what all that banter has to do with them. That’s when the choreographers get caught up in what the judges or America will say about “their” piece and forget that the stinkin’ show is about the kids dancing their butts off and not their glory. They have other outlets to show off so they should stop taking away these unknown dancers’ moments.
Other than that I love the way the judges actually have knowledge of what they are judging (unlike another Fox talent show) and the costuming is wonderful. A real treat to watch in the summer when the rest of the week’s TV sucks.
The one episode i miss, Karla gets eliminated T_T
I honestly think the show has gotten away from it’s core values. Voters are getting it right, however the judges are saving THEIR favorites. (Kayla, Kupono, & Phillip) Out of the six who danced for their lives, they had the worst solo performances. Nigel throw Karla and Vitolio under the bus, and told the driver to CRUSH Vitolio with the words “At the end of the day you don’t deliver!” Nigel, I’m not sure what you’ve been watching, but Vitolio delivered every week. Karla did the best she could with an inexperienced partner for the first few weeks. Phillip & Kupono have yet to deliver anything this season.
If this is they way things will work, TELL THE TRUTH. This is what Nigel should have said, “Vitolio, you are a great dancer. Far better than Kupono. But, we have to let you go because we want to keep Kayla, and you are too short to be her partner.”
SHAME ON Nigel and the producers for making a bad decision and telling Vitolio he has not delivered, when in actuality the judges and producers have NOT DELIVERED.
Voters & viewers this is the way it’s going to work. The judges love Kayla, she will probably win. They have to keep Kupono around, because he is the only male dancer tall enough to partner with her. So, they will vote off GREAT male dancers and keep a non-productive dancer.
So sad. We might as well stop watching now, cause the we all know the end result.
I agree about the camera cuts. Too focused on close ups and when the dancers come together to do something we either miss it or the camera cuts to a too-wide shot. There are rehearsals on stage for each couple? If so the production team needs to do its own choreography and arrangement to plan camera angles.
Dance is meant to inspire, uplift, and entertain. If you are striving to be a professional dancer, you need to have strong performance skills. This includes engaging your audience and in order to do that, you have to let your personality and who you are shine through. Personality is a huge part of the dancer’s appeal for me. This is one of the reasons Josh won last year. People like HIM. Of course he is a fantastic dancer, they all are. But it is hard to root for, and/or vote for someone who doesn’t make me smile too.
Something that Nigel has been trying to convey to people – and yes, I have had to take this to heart as well – is that a dancer can be pristine, darn near perfect and still not win America’s heart. Yes, it is true that someone with awesome ability should win, but also that person must be able to:
1) Keep their fire and energy and spirit UP every single week.
2) Conquer their inner fears and self-doubts to show America they alone deserve the huge benefits that winning this show will give them.
3) Put in endless nights dreaming and thinking how to showcase themselves so that *every Single time* they are on stage it shines like a beacon.
Great dancers are out there. So are great entertainers. SYTYCD is striving to gain special people who are both. If your (or mine) ‘awesome’ dancer doesn’t win the hearts of even those who would love to hate them – then they have missed that key element SYTYCD is looking for, and will be passed by.
Kayla and Kupono almost broke my heart this week with their solos. I think they are amazing, but… if they keep doing that, I will accept their goodbyes as if they said loud and clear “Sorry, I don’t have it.”
In the end, I will respect the dancer that keeps saying (hello Janette and Brandon) over and over again, “Oh yeah, I GOT IT!”
This isn’t a competition for great performances every other dance, but every single dance. If they get a choreographer who gives them something FUNK (Brian, I do love you) then they need to interpret that is a way that says who they are, and how good they are. Not be namby pamby quivering poor little frail characters who have no control over their own destiny. Throw in some drama and do what you have to!
And by the way, the camera crew this season is HEAD and SHOULDERS above last seasons.
poor Vitolio I felt bad because he was a poor orphan in Africa I thought they did good the first time they danced together Karla is a good fellow I liked her too I liked the dance they did
Kayla and Kapono were the worst dancers last night, but since they are the judge’s favorites Vitolio and Karla were cut. I thought this was extremely unfair. I have always liked SYTYCD because the judges usually base their decisions on ability and skill of the dancers but tonight it was all about favoritism. Nigel’s comments about Vitolio were rude and uncalled for. He needs to apologize to Vitolio.
Dear Vitolio,
I’ve been dancing for 5 years and I’m not close to an expert but you are an AMAZING dancer!! You’re are probably my favorite dancer on the show and I’ll remember you forever. In my opinion I think that you shouldn’t have gone and sometimes you shouldn’t have been close to the bottom three.
I think Karla was the most amazing dancer and it’s ridiculous that she was voted off.
Biggest let down since the inception – you call it “Dance for Your Life” and when they do you send them home? Come on!
I think it’s a total travesty that Vitolio was sent home. The judges, especially Nigel, have been way too hard on him. I think he did an amazing solo and there was NO question it was better than Kupono’s! In my opinion Kupono wasn’t strong enough to even make it on the show, and the viewers have been trying to send him home but the judges are in love with him for some reason and playing favorites. I cried when Vitolio was sent home because I hate injustice! It was flat-out the WRONG decision! What do the judges think is so great about Kupono??? Poor Vitolio, first he’s orphaned and abandoned and then it happens all over again on this show. Maybe this is a good place to throw in my comment that I think voting for couples is a horrible ridiculous idea!! Why can’t we vote for individuals the whole time? Instead good people who get bad partners are brought to the bottom over and over again and then the judges hold it against them.
Cutting Vitolleo & keeping the guy who can barely dance makes me think the judges are smoking crack on the commercial breaks. I thought they were suppose to know what was great & what was mediocrity. It was so bizarre I probably will never watch the show again.
Thank you so much for saving Kupono and Kayla! I was so worried! Those two are by far my favorite dancers on the show! Kupono, you are the reason I am watching this show. I never watched before! The first performance was AMAZING! Wednesday night was equal to that. Kayla, you are so beautiful to watch. If anything should happen to you two I will seek you out to see you dance in person. I am just amazed at you two! Thank you judges, I will be on my phone double time to make sure these other silly people who obviously can not see real talent don’t let them get to the bottom 3 again!
Ugh! Why is everyone saying Vitolio was so amazing? I think he is a good dancer but come on, you are just playing to his story. Without his story he is just another good looking ok dancer. I’m not heartless, just going off talent and for the guys it’s all about Kupono, Phillip, and Brandon. These guys are what it is all about. In addition anyone who doesn’t think Kayla is not one of the best dancers ever is completely blind to true talent!!!
I luv karla and i voted for her why did she go ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
To echo the sentiments of others, if there is to be a Dance for your Life, then the judges should act accordingly. Vitolio and Karla did not have the weakest solos. Kapono and Karla failed to deliver, and if the dance for your life segment is a true tool, those are the two that should have been eliminated. Kapono is a wonderful dancer when given choreography, but his solos, especially last night are lacking in substance. Kayla, a beautiful dancer to be sure, with fabulous legs, used her solo to perform a series of leg extensions… again little substance. Karla, listened to the judges last week, and pulled out a beautiful solo, and was eliminated. Vitolio again delivered a soulful piece, and was eliminated. Shameful. This young man never had the opportunity to shine, drawing styles that were not his each week.
On another note, though I love all types of dance, and am partial to broadway, it should not be a category on the show. There is not enough in the choreography to be competitive in this venue. It is entertaining, but there is as much character acting as dancing, and it will not as a rule, hold up to the general public against contemporary, or hip hop. Each week, the couple that draws broadway receives blah review and is in danger of the bottom three. It is annoying and insulting to the dancers to critique them negatively, rather than saying that the choreography was weak. Its great for an opening number, but not for competition.
I do not understand why they have the “Dance For Your Life” for the bottom 3 dancers. The judges seem to send the dancers who do the strongest solos home. As for Nigel telling Vitolio he did not deliver, I think there are several dancers still on the show who have not delivered anything yet. Therefore, Nigel cannot justify sending Viotolio home with that reason. If he can, then several other dancers should have went home along with Vitolio.
come on!!!!!! if Vitolio is off, what’s the point of watching!? You are my favorite- you are so good. don’t ever stop dancing.

I realize that her solo was not the best of the night, but if you were to judge on the whole body of work so far, Kayla is one of the best on the show. People keep complaining because she is a judges favorite -they shouldn’t express it outwardly so much but so what if she is? She’s been amazing thus far. Why is that so many seek to take out a dancer who is legitimately good because the judges also like them? This happened to Danny too. People didn’t vote for him because they lavished too much praise upon him.
Pot calling the kettle black I think – just because someone is well received by the judges doesn’t mean we the audience should shun them.
Huwaat?! So upset over Vitolia and Karla being eliminated. I do agree with some of the posts here, being that this show is starting to turn into more of the choreographers, etc etc. I thought Vitolio and Karla did great more than Philipp and Jeanine, but of course with the chain ‘props’, the judges thought the dancing was better. Karla is an amazing dancer, solo or with a partner. But it seems the judges already have a favorite in mind on who’s going to win. Shame shame. “Dance for Your Life” is a waste of 30 minutes of anyone’s time.
I cannot understand how both Max and Vitolio were eliminated in favor of Kupono. Kupono seems like a nice guy, but both Max and Vitolio were so much stronger dancers. Further, unlike Kupono, Vitolio took the judges’ critiques and improved his solo, which was great. I’m sorry to see him go.
I agree with everyone saying that it should no longer be called “Dance For Your Life” if they hold on to their favorites even though they were the worst dancers that night.
I am personally tired of Kayla’s reactions. I understand that she’s pouring her heart out and trying very hard, but when votes don’t go her way, she can’t cry all the time. I don’t know…it’s an attitude thing I am uneasy with. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely think she is one of the best on the show, but Karla danced better than her that night, and if the bottom 3’s fates were based on their solos, Kayla should have been sent home.
I can also see, however, the importance of star power. Karla seems very timid and actually almost boring whenever she’s put in front of the mic. She rocks the dancing part, for sure, and that should be enough because she CAN dance…but Nigel’s looking for personality too.
That being said, I agree that this season is the most talented and competitive season so far. Everyone has to stay sharp, and everyone has to keep voting for their favorites!
I am floored as to how Kupono is still on the show and Vitolio is gone. That quickstep he and Karla did was great. It was my favorite dance of the night, he improved with Karla, and Vitolio’s solo was fantastic. Since Kayla got partnered with Kupono, there have been no big lifts in their dances, and you know why? Because Kupono is not strong enough to do lifts, and his solo was really weak too. I don’t think this week’s outcome was at all fair.
I believe that the judges are perfectly able, however I do believe they made a mistake in eliminating Karla and Vitolio. They both had stronger solo performances than Kapono and Kayla. I think both Kapono and Kayla are brilliant dancers, but they should have gone home based on their solos. I think they stayed due to favoritism not growth. I like watching them dance also but if they don’t “bring it” this time they both need to go.
I would like to add that I think the Dizzy Feet Foundation is a brilliant Idea. I would have loved to take classes, but never had the financial ability to do so. It will keep many children out of trouble.
Shame on the judges… Another wrong decision to add to an already too long of a list. Vitolio eliminated?? Get serious! He did everything that was asked of him each and every time and his solo last night was just amazing!!! It’s time for Kupono to go. I repeat… Shame on the judges!!
I do wish that Nigel would stick to being executive producer and leave the judging to the experts.
Shine on Janette and Brandon, shine on!! :=)
They clearly made a mistake letting Vitolio go especially when even the judges themselves admitted that Kapono’s solo was nothing. Do the solos count for something or not? I am sure Kapono is a very nice person but his solo was stale and completely uninspired. As Nigel said, he walked around the stage and smiled. Wherea, Vitolio danced with his whole heart and soul. I was very disappointed that they rewarded Kapono’s abysmal solo and then cut Vitolio. Vitolio- for so many of us you remain a bright star and we wish you the best. I was very sorry to see you cut and thought your solo was excellent.
Who does Mia Michaels think she is?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! She’s acting so snobby and like, ” Oh, look at me I’m a big, bad, famous choreographer.” She’s being cruel to the dancers, and Brandon is her main victim. Brandon is amazing and Mia is probably just jealous of what he can do. And for the other dancers, she needs to start appreciating what the they bring to the stage and stop criticizing every little thing that they need to do better. I mean that’s part of her job, but for once, please start pointing out the amazing things they can do.
If it’s “dancing for your life” THEN it should be just that! Otherwise, change the name and call it “Dance a solo for us but don’t worry it doesn’t really count that much”. I don’t understand. Nigel- you have an awesome show but this isn’t fair to the viewers to say this is “dancing for your life” when you keep people who didn’t do that AT ALL and you yourselves admit it.
The camera cuts are destroying the integrity of the dancing AND the choreography. The only people who can truly appreciate/enjoy the efforts of the dancers are those privileged few in the audience.
Classical ballet? You actually expect us to believe that the ‘Naughty Ballerina’ drew this out of a hat? Get a grip – I would have loved to seen Phillip’s attempt at doing a Rudy Nuryev.
RE: Vitolio – He’s been out-dancing Kapono/Phillip and even Evan for weeks. It’s very obvious he wasn’t a favorite of the judges.
Finally – GET RID OF BRIAN FRIEDMAN! Bring back Karaty or someone who’s at least qualified to produce something better than a rendezvous of two aliens wrapped in tin foil! Give us a break!
Poor Vitolio……….he is an AMAZING dancer. It wasn’t his time to leave this early in the show. And his only passion in life is dance. Vitolio, you are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! Don’t let anyone tell you different!!!!!!!!!!!! You’ll go far if you be strong and dance your heart out!!!!!!!!
What is the point of ‘dance for your life’? Absolutely unbelievable what was said to Viitolio last night! He is an amazing dancer. I’m not watching anymore! It’s just judges favourites that get thru.
really disappointed.
I have loved seeing the talent this season but I am disappointed in some of the CHOREOGRAPHY. I do agree that the choreographers put a lot into the show but if these dancers are supposed to stand on stage and take the critisizm that is dished out to them, then why shouldn’t the choreographers have t do so when they get it WRONG? These kids are put on critique display every week, expecting to be tough enough to take it, told to “bring it”, “step it up”, and, my favorite,…”I expected more”. Well, so have I-expected more. I think that Mia Michaels, whom I adore, has come closest to acknowledging some oddities in the dances, other than the dancers themselves and it’s time that the choreographers learn to practice what they preach. On the other hand, Mia, I have still loved everything you have created this season! I am a true fan of yours! The Booty…awesome! Oh, and Evan and Randi, I am not an expert on what you should have done better this week, but I loved watching you guys! You are pure pleasure! Vittolio…I will miss you! It should have been Kupono. Sorry Kupono, you are good, but Vittolio has “stepped it up” for me more. Judges, keep your eye on Caitlin- Kayla, whom is great when not in solo, is wonderful, but I have been quite impressed w/ Caitlin’s solo every time-EVERY time. Though I have been disgruntled w/ the choreographers this time, as I mentioned earlier, Mia-love you. Napoleon and Tabitha-ditto. I hope too, that America has appreciated some of the fantastic ballroom that has come forth this season! Curious about next week! Here’s hoping!
Part of the problem this year is the women are far better dancers than the guys. Vitolio has not delivered, either has Kapono, Phillip, or Jason. Even though Phillip’s solo was great, that is all he can do and his partner is spectacular and suffering from his poor performances. Brandon and Ade are the only male performers who deliver each week. And poor Karla got sent home, when it was obvious her solo was much better than Kayla’s, but Kayla is the favorite child, so no matter what, the judges will keep her on. Why have a dance for you life? What’s the point if you are not fair. Next year just tell the audience that you are picking who you want and leave it at that. It is very discouraging to see how unfair the show is being run.
AND the camera men/women should be shot. We are missing so many of the must see moves. They think they are being creative, when in reality they are giving us less than satisfactory film of the dancers.
Ditto to stop the camera cuts, just let us watch the dancers, PLEASE.
I got nothing but love for you, Baby Vee (my nickname for Vitolio)!! You consistently showed style and grace and proved each week that you weren’t a “one trick” pony. It’s unfortunate that, IMO, you were set up to fail and ultimately thrown under the bus by constantly being given blah! dance styles/routines with whack choreography (weeks 2 & 4), but handled each like the dance hero you are. Thank you for coming into my life via this program, you will be missed. Don’t stop the music or dancing!!
This show used to be judged reasonably fairly; that’s why it is disappointing to see that the judges definitely have an agenda this season. They have decided early on whom they want in the top ten. It was apparent when they looked downright disappointed that in week 2 they would not get a crack at Carla/Jonathan or Asuka/Vitolio (instead of being happy they danced well) and then inexplicably kicked out Max instead of Kupono.
The dance choices on week 4 were suspect. Brandon/Jeanette and Ade/Melissa don’t really need the judges’ help but a second cha-cha this season and the first-ever ballet for a ballerina — coincidence? –I think not. The judges told Evan and Randi their Broadway was lackluster but that they still belonged in the top ten and Mia told Kayla and Kupono they would, of course, save them before “Dancing for your Life” even started. Phillip got a second helping of hip-hop which struck the viewers as so contrived that he landed in the bottom three (the performance itself was not bad). On the other hand, the two couples prepped to be cut by the top ten drew quickstep and Alien Friedman (did a good job with it, by the way). Jason and Caitlyn are now on the judges chopping block for next week.
I’m disappointed that even though America keeps putting Kayla in the bottom 3, the judges keep rescuing her even though they clearly state that here solos have been disappointing. Judges, it’s time to stop protecting your favorite simply because she’s your favorite and judge her based on her solos. Mia made it pretty clear before anyone danced on 7/2 that you would not send Kayla and Kupono home. So what was the point of their dancing? It’s just not fair to the other dancers who perfomed better solos.
GET RID OF PHILLIP!!!!!! The only thing he can do is pop and lock. Every other form of dance they have given him he has sucked at badly. Why he has been kept on the show is beyond me. Vitolio is lightyears beyond Phillip as a dancer. Phillip should have been the first to be kicked off. I thought “So You Think You Can Dance” was supposed to be about talented dancers. A “real” dancer can perform “any” style of dancing. Obviously Phillip is not a REAL dancer. GET RID OF HIM!!!!! I’m am so sick of Nigel this season. Brandon and Vitolio are amazing. Even Max was amazing. Are the judges blind???
This is the first time I have been to this web site, the first time I have cried at the injustice of the judges, and the first time I have considered not watching the show any longer. I have absolutely no understanding of why the judges sent home Vitolio. While the judges decisions have baffled me all season (Max, Asuka) the decision to send Vitolio home was inexplicable. He did by far the best solo, and for goodness sake Kupono pretty much ASKED to go home!! Vitolio danced his heart out every week, his strength and abilities were apparent to all.
I love this show, the incredible talent portrayed, but after that debacle I will really have to give some serious thought about tuning in next week. I have read everyones comments and some very valid points were brought up. I sincerely hope that the judges of So You Think You Can Dance, the producers of the show and the people of the Fox network are paying attention, because I would think that alienating viewers is not the goal here.
While this is not the first time I have been saddened about a dancer leaving the show this is the first time I have been so disturbed by the apparent injustice done that I have been moved to write a letter. Come on people, do better, be better, and smarten up or you will lose valued support.
HEY SHOW PRODUCERS! Please, Please, Please…STOP changing cameras and doing closeups during the dances!!!!! Especially the group dances. We dancers want to see the whole routine and not just bits selected by the director!
Also, when will there be a spot featuring the costume department? Who conceives and designs them? How do they construct them and in what time frame?
THANKS!
I hope the judges listen to these criticisms. It is obvious manipulation to keep some dancers that fit (height wise). When the choreographer is responsible and not the dancers who are just doing the dance given to them…give criticism where justified. Don’t patronize the choreographer…there are many others out there. Dancers should be judged on an actual type of dance and not on an interpretation by the choreographer. This year it has gotten away from the abilility of the dancers but what the choreographers dream up. Let’s get back to basics. Constructive criticism should be listened to. I have really enjoyed the show in the past but this year it seems to be predetermined.
What the heck were the 3 of you thinking? You call youselves professional and judges to boot! Why would you pick Kupono over Vitolio? Kupono didn’t even show up for his so called ‘Dance for his life’. He threw the towel in long before his solo, you so called judges were to blinded by your favoritism to see it. Well wake up if you want to keep your viewing public or step aside and let the viewing public do the job you’re suppose to be doing!
I would love know the musicians and names of the songs that were playing during the final moments of Karla/Vitolio exit. Anybody know??
I think Nigel and the judges have their favirotes and it doesn’t matter how well they dance thy will be cut!!!
I understand, to a degree, that the camera work ‘needs’ to be exicing, BUT have been of the opinion for a long time that the camera work is too mobile and cuts from shot to shot to often. please settle it down a bit and let the viewer rely more on the talent and excitement produced by the dancers …the camera work is frustrating. that said, this year has been beter than last.
Unanimous! Vitolio was clearly the better individual performer Thursday. Therefore, decisions about who to cut are more based upon previous performances and/or supplementary factors. Individual performances exist to (1) fill TV time and (2) give the judges a basis for faulting their performance (justifying a dismissal). Supplementary factors could be as simple as three strikes and your out or as sinister as limiting Afro-American males. And one must never mention sex appeal or charisma as factors. Therefore, I no longer regard the judging process to be truly fair. Yet, I will continue to love the program and the performances. Thank you.

What happened last night was terrible for Vitolio and Karla. They had the best solo dance and yet they were booted out of the program. Kayla and Kupono had the worst solo dance and yet the Judges voted unanimously to remove Vitolio and Karla. That is the last SYTYCD I will watch. Too bad because I wanted to see Katie Holmes perform.
I can’t fathom the reasoning behind Vittolio’s elimination. He made the quickstep look like a breeze and put a lot of soul and skill in his last solo performance. Judges even praised most of his past performances, yet he kept landing at the bottom 3 just for lack of votes. On the other hand, Kupono, though probably doing his best, did not do much to dance for his life. The judges have even admitted that about him twice now. On top of that Nigel accuses Vittolio of failing “to deliver” which seems to contradict his past comments about his other performances, especially the ballroom dances that he carried off with skill and grace (though they were not his style of dance). It seemed like the judges were grasping for an excuse to keep Kayla paired up with Kapono. Good luck, Vittolio–you deserved better.
I am confounded by the judges’ reasoning behind eliminating Vittolio. His solo looked strong and skillful, while Kupono lacked any substance (judges even admitted this twice now). He and Karla were even highly praised for the quickstep, so how can Nigel say that Vittolio “fails to deliver”? It seems to be a thinly constructed excuse to just keep Kayla partnered with Kupono. Shame on the judges for trying to dupe the audience. Good luck, Vittolio–thought they owed you more respect in the end.
I’m disappointed that this show is not broadcasted in upscaled 720p and not real HD.
Please get this show broadcasted in real HD!!

I agree with what several others pointed out on the blog. I hope the judges actually see and read these comments.
In my opinoin Vitulo and Karla had the best solo’s last night. Kupono’s was terrible and he should have been the one eliminated. He even said that he would be OK if he went home. Vitulo’s heart and soul was going into this. Then the worst part is that Nigel insults the people who he eliminates which is outrageous. To say that Vitulo just didn’t deliver at the end of the day is rediculous. He delivered Nigel – it’s you who didn’t deliver. And same with Karla. She was fantastic and to tell her she didn’t have star power is also rediculous. What are you talking about and why do you need to insult these amazing dancers when you let them go? You leave the viewers feeling angry at you. We know someone has to go but do it with respect!!!
Nigel I know you were surprised that the couples you criticized so badly on Wednesday didn’t end up in the bottom 3. The reason is that we liked their dancing and thought they gave it their all and really entertained us. Your strong criticism only makes the viewers that much more motivated to take the time to dial in to counteract your often mean comments.
Out of the 3 men last night, Vitulo was clearly the best all around dancer so what is your real agenda?
I look so forward to watching SYTYCD every Wed. & Thurs. and when the season is over, I am as sad as a football fan at the end of football season. However, I too noticed some judges were harsher on the dancers than in the past. This can make the viewers feel uncomfortable and the dancers feelings should be considered. I feel these types of shows are great as they give talented people a chance that they may never have had. Even when they are sent home they were still noticed which may open doors for them. Some who lost end up more successful than some winners! I like ALL the judges, they too are learning and growing. Can’t wait till Wed. night!
I agree with Susan’s post. What’s the real agenda? Tell me now so I can stop watching. After this weeks injustice, I WILL stop watching. I would like the producers to bring Vitolio back, center stage, and have Nigel apologize to him. There was abosolutly no reason for Nigel’s rude comments. I undersand constructive criticism, but rudeness, unacceptable. Nigel tried to break Vitolio’s spirit.
Vitolio, I hope you read this blog. You are a GREAT dancer. Please continue to dance. Don’t let Nigel or anyone else for that matter tell you, you can’t do something they are not capable of doing themselves. I feel in my heart this is not the last time I will see you perform. Best, and keep dancing. You are a graceful dancer. Simply Awesome.
i thought Vitolio is fantastic. if it had been up to me, i would have kept him. i’m not sad to see Karla go however, although she’s obviously a wonderful dancer… they all are, we should keep that in mind, and so should they. but the fact is, both of them were in the bottom 3 more than once, so it shouldn’t be so surprising that they were eliminated. despite what we all think here, apparently America voted differently enough times that the judges took notice. that’s fair enough, i suppose.
note: just because he’s black, doesn’t mean he’s from Africa. Vitolio is from Haiti.
I can’t say I’m surprised. I knew it would happen. ‘Dance for your life’ means NOTHING. I’ve seen it before in previous seasons. If a dancer is favored SHE doesn’t have to dance for her life. Kayla should have been brought to task if nothing else! Give her some food for thought! Something to really cry about. That solo was awful!
I feel so bad for Vitolio. Somebody out there in the dance world needs to pick this guy up! Everyone commenting has made it clear, the judges messed up!
Judges, are you listening! Don’t make me turn off this show. I love it. I’m blown away by the beauty, the ability of these people. But I’m so ticked off! You want the dancers to ’step it up.’ How about you STEPPING IT UP!
I agree that it is a shame that Karla and Vitolio were eliminated from the show, and clearly there is more politics to these decisions than meets the eye. It was clear that Kupono should have left this week, not Vitolio.
And although Kayla can follow and interpret choreography well, her last two solos were very disappointing. I agree Kupono did anything at all!! Such performances can certainly cause one to slip down the ladder, so to speak.
It would be interesting to see Kayla and Melissa dance some hip-hop, and see how they fare.
Remember it is the audience that will choose the final winner, and I vote for that one special dancer who brings joy, light and inspiration to his/her craft.
Good luck dancers!
The comments on this blog are so right on. I hope that the producers of this show are reading them and understanding that the public is not as stupid as they thought they were. Vitolio was ousted in a very unfair way this week. He out performed the other male dancers on his solo, and because of judges preferences, he was eliminated, not for his performance but because he wasn’t a judges favorite personality. Ditto, Karla. Phillip has only had to perform one thing: what he brought to the show in the first place and the judges say Vitolio hasn’t grown? We are not the stupid ones, the judges are. I work in the field of art, and I am out raged at the stupidity of the judges of the shows in that also. I truley believe that judges who have performed in the fields were they are judging tend to get power hungry and judge works to reflect their own personalities instead of being impartial. Mia, you are talented but you rarely give a critique that is motivational unless you love the routine. The dancers here are at the coreographer’s mercy, if they get a not so great routine, what are they supposed to do? They can stand in line hoping that you will notice they they did the best with what they were given while you praise the brilliance of the of the guy who deemed tin foil on their heads makes them look like an alien. Vitolio didn’t even get a dance that was in his genre while the “safe” ballerina gets to do what she does every day and gets praised to the ever loving ceiling for it. Where is her growth? I have watched this show since its inception and think that each year the judging gets more ego driven. Mary is more honest and impartial than the rest, but if she went along with this decision on Vitolio and Karla, then she is as much in the tank as the news media is with Obama. Vitlio should have been given another chance.
And by the way, I agree about the camera angles. I spend half the show yelling at the cameramen for cuting off the performances instead of letting us see the whole shot.
ok I am a huge fan of kayla but i do agree with people that her solo’s have been disappointing and she was the weakest of the 3 girls. however she was not the weakest when you take all the dances in to consideration which is what the judges do. i am also sad to see vitolio go home as well and did think that he should have stayed over phillip or kupono but yes they want to keep them paired together. what i dont understand is why everyone is so mad at the judges for praising kayla for doing what so does which is dance great but they are not mad at the fact that phillip is still on the show just because of his fans. jeanine should stay and lucky for her phillip does have fans but that is something that i think needs to be recognized. I think next week everyone is going to have to bring it because no matter who goes home (besides phillip) it will be the hardest elimination yet. I personally can not think of who i would like to see go but I think I would have to say I would like the top 10 to be Evan, Randi, Melissa, Ade, Kayla, Brandon, Jeanette, Jason, and I am going to have to say Caitlin. I love jeanine but her performances have not been good but that could be because she was with phillip. I can not choose between phillip or kupono as I feel both are weak dancers so if i had it my way i would bring back vitolio or max
Does anyone know the name of the song that was playing when Adam danced with the contestant?
Calico Sequeira is 30 years old, so this is her last chance to make the show before she’s “too old.” She loves swing dance and said that she even knows a 95 year old who swing dances, so 30 is hardly ancient. Calico danced with a partner and has a lot of energy, but doesn’t quite have the level of technique needed to advance in the competition. Nigel said that watching Calico is enjoyable, and dancing with her on a social level would be nice, but she’s not at the professional level with her dance. The other judges agreed, and Adam said he’d love to dance with her, and Calico invited him up. Adam takes her up on the offer. Adam Shankman, listed as “21ish” years old, danced some ballroom steps with Calico until the music switched into swing. When the performance ended, Adam received a standing ovation from Nigel and Mary, who invited him to the microphone. They also invited the Dance alumni in the audience to the judges’ table. Lauren Gottlieb, Katee Shean, Josh Allen, and Comfort Fedoke are the new panel of judges that Adam must face. After giving Adam their critiques, the four dancers send him to Vegas, and he freaks out.
I am so glad to know that I can give my opinion formally and that I AM NOT ALONE in my feeling that Vitolio was unfairly cut last Thursday! Because I am so upset for the first time out of all the seasons that I have watched the show, this is the first time that I have bothered to state my opinion to the station on-line!
Nigel, how can you say that Vitolio has not delivered and let Philip go on when he has so much work to do? Vitolio has already shown that he is by far the better dancer! I respect and admire much of what you have to say, but this time I feel that you blew it!
Vitolio, I hope you know that you are not only an amazing dancer but a wonderful person, who acts from his heart and soul. DO NOT GIVE UP!
Why is everyone so worried about Kayla’s solo’s; you know when they will be doing any of these dances if they win they will have choreographers. She has obviously proven she’s a wonderful dancer that follows choreography brilliantly; the judge’s are professionals, so maybe we should trust their judgement.
Dear Vitolio,
i’m soooo sorry you got the boot . It definitely PROVES how POLITICAL the judges really are.
You’re a fabulous dancer and beyond dancing, a truly magnificent human being. My heart goes out to you. I wish you total success in your future dancing career.
You’re a Blessing to humanity !!!
Ever Onward !
Polly
I agree with the comments above. The “Dance for your life” segment is not a sudden death elimination. It is a last chance to impress the judges who are judging the dancers on their FULL body of work. This explains why Kayla has remained on the show dispite her poor solos (which should keep her out of the final 4 unless she improves). Her choreographed performances as a total body of work places her in my opinion as the best female on the show, so far, with Melissa, Jenean, & Janette close behind. Karla for me is more talented than Caitlin or Brandi. But those 2 were not in the bottom 3 this week. As for Vitolio he was not among the top 3 male dancers – Brandon, Ade, and Evan. If not this week his time was sure to come soon. Jason will be next if he doesn’t avoid the bottom 3.
I was completely shocked about Vitolio leaving! The judges had only great things to say after the Wednesday performance…and his solo was fantastic on Thursday. Then Nigel kicks Vito off with a harshness he did not deserve! Vito is a superior dancer to all the other men; he stood a good chance of winning. Philip can not possibly win, neither could Kupono…why did they keep these two?
I don’t care too much about the show anymore and can’t figure out what these judges are thinking…whatever it is, it sure doesn’t seem to have much to do with dance!
And when they talk about character & personality, that’s just something that makes it easier for the audience to watch, rather than challenging us. We’re not so stupid that we need it handed to us!
the kiss of death, the quickstep! poor Vitolio and Karla. Is it me or did almost everyone else get the “right” style of dance, hello Melissa (don’t get me wrong I love her) and Phillip who is amazing at what he does but that is about it. Something smells fishy here… Oh and if you want to see a Quickstep that was not kiss of death check out Nico and Natalie on So you think you can dance Canada (and queen somebody to love)
I’m totally disgusted by the so called “unanimous decision” of eliminating Vitolio. Nigel said to Vitolio, “We feel as though you always present yourself brilliantly. You’ve got great presence on stage and when you come out with your eyes and the way your carriage is, you look like you are going to be a major star. But you don’t really deliver anything at the end of the day apart from a great presence.” Immediately after that he tells Kapono that his (solo dance) performance was weak and lacked passion. Nigel, are you reading this?! How could you and the other judges take away the integrity of this show by stripping Vitolio of his chance to win this competition, one that he has fought for week after week with his sweat and tears? Huh? Do you actually go to bed feeling good about that decision? If you do, then you need to review the tapes and you will discover that you made a ‘HUGE’ mistake!! O don’t worry, you can still undo the damage that you and your fellow judges have made. I and so many others are waiting for Vitolios’ return to this competition with immediate effect. This was injustice to the fullest degree to a well deserving dancer that has TRULY PROVEN HIMSELF WORTHY OF BEING IN THIS COMPETITION.
Bottom line, Vitolio bought it!!!!
Marigold – I was very pleased to see Melissa dance a ballet – but am curious about how that choice was made. Women can’t dance ballet without years of training, and since she’s well trained, she should be up there performing it. Her partner was great at lifting – very strong, but appears to have little or no ballet background. He lacked turnout, his runs were rough; and his lower extremeties in general where not where it’s at in ballet. The piece was obviously choreographed to highlight her and to hide his lack of technicque through his lifts.
I’d be surprised if she pulled ballet out of a hat – she must have requested it.
As for Vitolio – to “Disappointed” I wish they could bring him back too! You should start a petition!
I am a huge fan of this show….because I LOVE TO WATCH THE DANCING! (that is why I either do other things or Tivo to skip the judges comments and commercials)
When I tune in I know it’s a show and it’s not going to be “fair”. Sometimes when the judges are harsh the voters turn out in bigger force…and sometimes when they praise someone a lot the voters turn against the “favorites”. we all have different views – so to someone the voters (and the judges) are going to get it wrong most weeks…
Over the years there have been many decisions that I haven’t agreed with in my opinions, BUT I know I have just one view, AND I know and understand reality…..
Reality = although this is a dance show, TV shows are BUSINESSES…they make decisions based on what they believe will bring in more viewers to the show (in this season and those to come – this season in particular they have already been selling next season HUGE..) and what will get people to buy tickets to the tour….remember the top 10 go on tour. The show/judges etc are going to keep as diverse, yet talented a group of a top 10 as they can so that they can SELL TICKETS….cause the more diverse the dancers – the more diverse the population of those that will attend (BUY TICKETS for) the tour….the more diverse the group, the bigger the crowds, the more $$$$…..ex:Phillip is crazy, unique, and i personally think very entertaining in his style (do I think there are other dancers better/more trained – yes)…but he is the only one of this group that does what he does….and there will be a population of people that buy a ticket to the tour just to see him. So he will probably stick around for the top 10….do i agree – maybe not – good business decision – probably yes. And to the loss of Vitolio – He was an AMAZING contemporary dancer….but there are other amazing contemporary dancers still left that population will still tune in/buy tickets to see….do i agree – no, do i understand why – yes.
Alas – everyone is not going to always agree….
In the end, these young people are SO lucky to be doing what they love and getting to express themselves each time they dance. What a hard working, fulfilling life! They are so talented and I so enjoy watching!!! If people stop watching the show then ratings drop and the show gets stopped and no more dancers get this great opportunity….I will continue to watch to support dance (and mute or skip when necessary).
Producers – if you DO read these….from my years as a fan talking with my many fan friends….the more dance you can cram in show, with less time for comment, etc etc the happier your FANS will be And if you think with a business mind as I believe you do – you know that means higher ratings and more ticket sales at the tours…It also means more numbers to showcase and more chances for the dancers! (which I hope appeals to the non-business side)
oh- and PLEASE stop the camera movements…although this season is a lil better……and I know its production and all that jazz, but trust that the viewers will be MORE captivated by getting to see all the dance (especially in group numbers) than then movement and changes in perspective.
It’s funny. I thought this was the search for America’s Favorite Dancer. But only after the judges maneuver the dancers THEY want into place?? Get a clue, judges. The reason Kupono is usually in the bottom third is because WE (the public) don’t think he’s all that good of a dancer. And I have not been able to see that Kayla is MILES better than Caitlyn or Melissa or Jeannine. And either one of Kayla’s last 2 solo’s would not have gotten her on the show in the first place. Nigel, you yourself said that you like a dance that has a beginning, middle and end. Well, by the end of the weird death dance, I couldn’t tell if they were glad to be dead, hoping to be alive, or just grateful that the strange dance was over, (I know I was). After only a couple of days, the only part about that whole dance I remember was her makeup. Please stop forcing whom YOU want down our throats.
Is anyone actually surprised by the results?!?!?! I don’t think that Karla and Vitolio were! They were up against the judges favorites, and no they were not the worst solos!! Don’t get me wrong I am a fan of Kayla and Kupono but they danced the worst solos. Karla and Vitolio have improved with every dance and solo, so why were they sent home?!?!?! Favoritism!!! And anytime a contestant in a competition says that they wouldn’t be bummed if they were sent home…………then send them home!! There are people there that this a dream come true for them and to have someone taking up space that are ‘glad to have been a part of the competition but if I went home I’d be ok. ‘REALLY! Is that really what you say after ‘dancing for your life’?!?! Well I guess that this show is going to be like all the other ‘reality shows’, we let you take a small part in it but at the end of the day we choose who we want!!
I think it was good that those 2 people were eliminated… I do not think Jeanine and others should have been in the bottom. But Phillip is dragging her down for sure… Kinda sad that Jeanine has to carry Phillips wait…
These two dancers are not the best on the show, so I understand letting them go. Vitolio was not the weakest male up for elimination, but he would have been eliminated the next week anyway. But lets be honest, this show is definitely not who is the best dancer. It is who do more (mainly women) vote for (hence the reason it tends to be male winners-the one girl won because Nigel begged the audience and she was in High School Musical). That is the unfortunate truth about this show. You need to have a great personality on stage, but you should also have AMAZING technique. I am so sick of hearing about “street”. Most of these dancers (if not all) trained in hip-hop at a studio. I just wish for once the BEST dancer would win. I know Benji was a good choice, but Travis was incredible. All the other winners have just been good dancers with great personalities. When Danny did not win, it solidified my opinion. I loved Josh last year, but he was not the best dancer. He wasn’t even the best hip-hop dancer.
I feel I must respond to Cat’s post above regarding what the judges are looking for in the judging of the contestants: “Something that Nigel has been trying to convey to people – and yes, I have had to take this to heart as well – is that a dancer can be pristine, darn near perfect and still not win America’s heart”.
I am assuming she meant Vitiolo since he has been in the bottom three several times. HOWEVER, so has Kayla, and apparently she has not been able to win the hearts of the voters, yet they continue to keep her on the show even though she isn’t appealing to the viewing audience. The judges constantly talk about her beauty, her legs and what a great dancer she is, but she lacks the spark and personality that many of the other dancers have.
I think Vitiolo’s demise was planned by the dances he “drew” because he was not a favorite of the judges. Did I think he could win? Possibly, as he worked his heart out, taking the judges advice and improving each week. I just hope he continues his dancing and becomes a huge success. He deserves it.
I agree with Robin that Broadway should not be included, unless they get a better choreographer. But if Tyce is the best (how could that be possible? I hate his dances!), then just eliminate Broadway.
Also, why is Brian back? I was so glad when he was gone. I think it has become very predictable which choreographers are going to produce the dances that will land a couple in the bottom 3.
In the previous seasons, some of the more popular dances were the ones choreographed around a story. Now, it’s like every dance has to have a story, and most of them are lame. And this makes the choreographer the center of attention. I am so sick of the self-congratulatory looks on the choreographers’ faces after the dance is over.
While I’m at it, the Bollywood sucked. Last year it was legitimately awesome and very difficult. This season, Katelyn (who I really don’t like) and Jason got a really watered down version. Why did the judges talk it up so much? To praise the show, which Nigel has been doing all season. Sickening.
Oh, and why don’t they show the dancers “picking” their dance style anymore? I bet it’s because the judges are assigning dances–that’s how Melissa got that “dream” ballet routine.
The top 20 dancers are all extremely forgettable and boring in terms of their performances. The choreography is at all time low. There have been some numbers from past seasons that I will never forget, even ones that featured dancers that did not win. This season, I can’t even remember the names of the contestants.
Judges, please stop telling the choreographers how great they are. They each pretty much recycle the same routine each time. The dancers (when good) are what make the routines great.
I am a few more boring episodes away from tuning out for good. This used to be my favorite show.
I wish someone would convince the director and powers that be that we would like to see the dancers dance and NOT have to try to watch them dance through various unusual camera angles and cut after cut after cut. It’s annoying, distracting and doesn’t do the dancers or choreographers any favors. PLEASE STOP IT!!! The dancers are the stars, not the friggin’ camera or director! Let us see, as much as possible, what the people in the studio audience get to see. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!
what’s tiring is the self congratulatory nature of the choreographers. It seems they are trying to hard to win awards for uniqueness that they forget they make or break the performers – who become just advertisers for the choreographers wares. when it’s too far out, the general public just doesn’t react well and it’s a detriment to the dancers. Look what never draws good votes – experimental contemporary, sometimes even classical ballroom. The public likes hip hop, even loves it – loves wild movement and leaps and intricate steps.
Mia michaels calls EVERYTHING (esp. her pet choreographers) brilliant…it’s tiresome and detracting. Of course you want new art, but this is NOT about judging art – it is an OPEN FORUM for the general public, and we should be aware that the general public, the masses, don’t always appreciate the art form. if we’re truly looking for the best dancer, then we shouldn’t skew the public opinion by subjecting some to more risky performances and then allowing others to draw favor in a more popular style.
I agree with comments above – the show is spending too much time praising choreographers who are doing a mediocre job at best. Shane Sparks and Brian Friedman are no longer on the same level as the others. Last week, Randi and Evan were criticized for not putting enough into their routine, meanwhile the choreographer is over 6ft tall and the dance was designed for her. Randi and Evan are the shortest dancers on the show – design a routine for them!!!!
Treat the viewers as intelligent people who want to watch and learn about dance. Stop playing favorites and stop setting up ‘perfect’ couples and dance pairings – it has become very transparent and disappointing.
kayla is BORING!
let her go, judges.
Okay yes. So Vitolio and Karla went home. they are both beautiful, and amazing dancers. But you have to let their journey now become bigger on their own. Like one person said this is a stepping stone. It is. This is most likely not the last time you will see them. And they had to go home sometime if they weren’t America’s Favorite Dancer.
And I understand. When the judges pick who is going home. It seems a little odd who they pick, and who they praise. But oh well. Just be grateful you saw your favorite dancers dance! Isnt that what this show is about dance? and all you care about is who goes home. It is very sad. But you just have to take that, and get excited for the next Wednesday. Cause obviously you love dance. So why do you watch some other good talent. GEEZ!
Ot was kinda obvious they were going to be sent home. Both were in the bottom 3 several times and there are better dancers in the show. Of course Kupono shiuld have been the gone heading home, his solo sucked! But he will eventually be going home.
I’m jumping on the bandwagon. I’ve been a fan of SYTYCD can from the start and I’ve noticed a definite trend in overproduction, lack of competition (no more random dance styles, last week was certainly a sign), and favoritism (Nigel clearly prefers blondes). If you want to truly spotlight dance talent, make it all random! Random partners, random dances, random everything and let America decide. This show is so much better than AI, but it certainly feels more scripted and contrived! “Dance for your life” – really? We know that’s not true! Go back to the days when we felt the competition was true and learn to be nicer to the dancers! They don’t deserve your hate when the results don’t go the way you planned! GOD, I hope SYTYCD Season 6 is better (I think it will be since they clearly saved the budget, talent etc for a Fall show) – they’ll be in the big league!
I do not think these two should have gone quite yet, although they aren’t the best couple on the show…But alot better than a few still remaining!!!???!!! Jennifer and Ade will go all the way!! They are awesome together!!! They should definately be in the top two, in my opinion. But who knows with this show. Kayla gets way way TOOOOOO much praise when alot of the other girls are just as good if not better than her. She’s been in the bottom three, what, 3 times now, I believe? She’s not all that!! Maybe she should stick with her modeling???? I don’t think she’s up to the standards for that either. I don’t mean to bash on her so bad she just seems too unrealistic. Get in the real world would ya??
I completely agree with a previous comment. Vitolio’s solo was far superior to the others on the show on the night he was eliminated. He should not have been sent home. The “Dance for Your Life” section of the show is bogus and should be eliminated if the judges are not going to select the best soloist!
OOps..I meant Ade and Melissa. Sorry for the error,,,
WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO FINALLY GET RID OF THAT KAPONO guy. I think I can dance as well as him and I suck.
Nigel has arrived, sets high and looks low. I am 56 and have never watched this show until this season. I’m not a professional dancer so I cannot critique like Nigel, but I do have a spirit and Vitolio touched my spirit each time he danced. THAT’S WHAT’S IMPORTANT Nigel. I’ve lost my enthusiasm to continue to watch this show. I’ve removed it from my TIVO and if it was up to me and America “Dance for you life” would be eliminated and let the bottom scorer go home. In fact, to err is human and that’s the reason So You Think You Can Dance should have a Wild Card for this section of the show.
You almost had me hooked on a decent show, but Nigel, you were wrong this time.
Nigel, it is confusing that when they show the restrospective of Vitolio, you are SCREAMING how wonderful he is on every performance, yet you say “at the end of the day” he doesn’t deliver? SHAME ON YOU. How many lame dances are you going to create so that Philip can stay in? He’s a great street dancer, but if he and Vitolio were the only 2 on the show, do you really think, in good conscience, you could say that Philip was the better one? He doesn’t even know how to point his toes!!
OMG I KNO U GUYS R ALL RIGHT!!!!!!!!
tHE JUDGES R BEING STUPID!!!
GETTING RID ON VITLIO IS THE WORST THING TO DO! I MEAN BETWEEN KUPUNO AND VITLKIO KUPUNO SHOULD LEAVE! I MEAN VITLIO U WERE THE BEST AND I THINK U SHOULD HAVE STILL BEEN ON THE SHOW! SRY U GOT ELIMATED! THE choreography NEEDS TO GET BETTER! THE JUDGES NEED TO BE SOFTED ON THE DANCERS BCC THEY ARE DANCERS ON WHAT THEY WERE TOLD TO DANCE! THE choreography IS JUST BAD AND U NEED TO SAY THAT!!!!!!!!!
Saturdays @ 8pm on GSN (Game Show Network), Cat’s on 20Q! Ive watched the shows the last couple of weeks and its great! Cat Deeley is the host!
I think phillip should have stayed they were wrong…
I hope the producers will tell us next time that voting is absolutely useless until the final ten because they have made up their mind already. I really doubt if there is really a bottom 3 or is it ………. ??????????????????
They tell the dancers to dance for their life – then send the best dancers home – We love VITOLIO and KARLA. Will definitely not watch the show anymore after Nigel’s comments !!!
poor Guys
