But what does her face and body language really tell us?
The most reliable thing that I saw during the interview was in the body language and it was a gestrual slip. At least two times during the session with the reporter Mrs.Clinton raises her left shoulder momentarily as she speaks. The first instance is about one minute and fourteen seconds into the interview after she says ” I don’t have any intrests in this happening” The second instance is when she says that “she dosent have any regrets’” towards the end. These slight raisings of one shoulder is a fragment of what slips out of the full gesture. In a full shrug, both shoulders rise, stay up and drop together. The last thing i saw was in the face when the reporter asked her “Do you still think about the campaign?” Notice her eyes when she gives her anwser, they shoot into a downward gaze, which means sadness.
When she said she has no regrets, there was a gestural slip and she sort of.. half shrugged, so she didn’t mean what she said, and when asked if she still thinks about the campaign, she showed sadness.
When she said she has no regrets, there was a gestural slip and she sort of.. half shrugged, so she didn’t mean what she said, and when asked if she still thinks about the campaign, she showed sadness, and she also made a false start, and she said not really, which sort of implies she possibly does, she also said it rather quickly, so maybe she practiced these question, like a ‘liar’ would, to avoid being ‘caught out’.
Very interesting.
I do have a question with the format of this blog, and that is about a way of making contact for submitting videos for the “Your own discoveries” category. I stumbled upon an interesting video that illustrates a classic example from Lie to Me episode 3 – “A Perfect Score” that would be intriguing to share with the rest of the viewers here. Thanks.
When She’s givin’ answers she never look at the reporter in to the eyes most of the time.
In the firs interview when she’s wearing the blue suit, she obviously felt uncomfortable with the questions and she stuttered a lot.
Other thing i noticed is that when she gave an answer at one question, when she finished at 1:02 and 1:58 she made an expression in her mouth.
When she said “President Obama” she shows anger.
And the shoulders when she said that she had no regrets
All of this things show us that she’s not totaly convinced, though.
She is telling a lie. She doesn’t believe that she won’t run again because her head is saying “no” to what is coming out her mouth.
She is telling a lie. She will run again. Her words say no but body and face say yes.
I think she was lying when she answered about running again.
1:16 She’s showing anger (probably from the questioning).
1:32 and 1:36 Head back, looking down to the right closing eyes. Recalling (probably where she wanted to direct the conversation). She does this quite a bit through the interview.
1:40 Disgust (just mentioned Obama).
2:00 Sadness and she admits it brings up memories.
she srugged her shoulders when talking about her job she is unsure about it and when she said she would nt run she said no but was nodding her head she faking it she’s lying
very interesting. Obviously very uncomfortable in the first interview. Stuttering, repetition of movement. wonderful skipping over Obama’s name, obviously a real sore spot. Head shaking disagreeing with her words. also a slight a symetrical shrug in her last response. a gasp before she says she doesn’t think about the campaign. cant remember anything else right now. A good liar but not great, if someone as novice as me can see the problem areas.
She will run again for president? You can’t say that, but she considers doing it for sure.
Lots of words and “explanations” before saying that she doesn’t want to run for president, it’s a sign of lying.
I’m not american, I’m from Brazil, but seeing Obama’s popularity drop and depending on how he will complete his admnistration, I think we might see Hilary as a strong candidate for replacement.
She is telling the truth.
She is certainly going to run again. It was so obvious when she diverted to another topic and used her hands more frequently than an old Italian throwing a pizza. FOGETABOUTIT
She’s telling the truth about her not running again and not thinking about running again. She is obviously flattered (suppressed smile during Thailand questioning) by the interest others show in her being President. The shrug in the second interview is helplessness. It’s out of her hands and she is regretful/sad of missing the opportunity to be President now, but totally resigned to what her role is for the next eight years in the party plan.
I believe she is actually telling the truth about not running again for president, she looks commited and confident on what she is saying
I totally agree with katie.
Anaylizing the first interview from this sort of perspective is incredible. The amount of gestural slips, distancing lanuage, avoidence of answering the question and stutturing it unbelievable.
My favorite part is right at the beginning at 0:17 where she shrugs her shoulders as she says “I’ve got a very, uh, demanding and exciting job right now” – making it read, “I don’t know if I have a very demanding and exciting job right now.”
She’s nodding while telling ‘no’.
she moves her shoulder in the end….its a lie
she is shaking her head when she is saying no this implies she does not agree with what she is saying.
I am not sure where to write this but I was listening to the interview with General Patraeus about the Afgan deployment at this link: http://video.foxnews.com/12273484/gen-petraeus-on-fns
Precisely at : 2:37-2:38 when talking about devoting troops to afgan he makes the most amazing face. I would be iinterested to see if anyone else sees it.
I must agree with Trevor. I think she is telling the truth. One of the reasons for this conclusion is that she has no insentive in lying. Both this and also that there were no signs of deception leakage. Of course the illustrators could be of some help, both in Thailand and in the studio she used a lot of them, which would suggest she’s confortable with what she’s saying. Furthermore, even thogh she used illustrators all the time, she never used not one manipulator. But, fortunately, time will tell, who’s been right.
A woman who was betrayed by her husband, yes, I’m talking about the scandal, probably pretended to be okay with Clinton, after that
enter with force in politics, and attempts to take down Obama, man, this woman could even sell their mother to be president. it is not necessary to search for micro expressions, excuse the English.
Noticeable drop in vocal pressure on “I have absolutely no belief”, while the rest of the speech is rather tense and well-pushed. She is totally in control of everything except for this part, suggest she is not lying, more like considering.
